Cardamom Rose Cold Coffee

I stumbled on this beautiful recipe some time back and decided this a must try. Inspired, this lovely “Persian” style coffee uses two very unusual ingredients - cardamom and rose. Now, if you are a conservative coffee lover, then this recipe might be a little bold for your taste buds. But if you are willing to experiment and move away from your regular cappuccino and latte, do give this recipe a shot. The beautiful flavour of the cardamom spice and the essence of the rose water,

1 cup of strong coffee chilled 

3/4 cup of milk 

6-7 green cardamom pods, crushed 

1/2 teaspoon rose water 

Ice cubes 



Chill your black coffee until use.

Put milk in a heat proof bowl and add the cardamom pods. 

Over low heat, let the milk simmer for about 15-20 mins. 

By this time the flavours of the cardamom seeds would be infused in the milk, making it extremely fragrant. 

Now add the rose water and give it a good stir. 

Remove from heat, strain the milk and discard the cardamom pods. Let the milk sit in the refrigerator for sometime. 


To serve: 

In your cup, pour ice cubes. 

Fill almost 2/3rd of the cup with coffee 

Fill the remainder with the fragrant milk
